Hello
I am Donna, an experienced and qualified Wills and Estate planner. I work as an Associate with APS Legal & Associates. I care about helping my clients get their personal and sensitive affairs in order so they have peace of mind for the future.
My Story
It was March 2020, yes that month and that year that we all remember but for not good reasons, that I became a qualified Associate for APS Legal & Associates Ltd after completing their Institute of Professional Willwriters regulated training course, which also covered Lasting Powers of Attorney. This was not necessarily a career route I had ever thought about, but there was an opening for an Associate in the Fenland area and, not being particularly happy in the job I was currently doing, I took the leap of faith for a new challenge – and it’s been a good move.

All of my working life has been customer focused, from careers advice, fitness instructing and assessing and at the age of 50 I retrained in healthcare within a local Eye Clinic, so new challenges have never been a problem! Equally, as I have always worked locally and in different employment sectors, I am a familiar face and often get approached by people I have known in “past lives” to discuss Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) and their own personal circumstances.

The importance of making a Will has been something I have been fully onboard with for many years, initially to protect my own daughter’s welfare should I not be around in terms of guardianship, to having personal experience of what can happen when a Will is not in place, so I was spreading the word before I was in a position to help people through this delicate, and can feel daunting, process. More recently I have had to become familiar with being an Attorney for my parents through their LPAs, having also to navigate the care system, so can draw on this experience when discussing these with clients about their own LPAs.

As an Associate for APS Legal and Associates Ltd, one of the most recognised and trusted companies in the professional Will and Estate Planning sector, you can be assured that the advice and guidance along with the documentation you receive is of a high standard and quality. My business is supported by a fully qualified Legal Team so that I can provide you with impartial advice and services, delivered in plain English and tailored to your individual needs. I will never pressure-sell and will ensure that the service provided fully complies with the law. Above all, you will be treated with respect and provided with personal attention from your first enquiry.

I am fully aware that people’s lives are full, what with work and family commitments, so I work around these by visiting you at home at a time convenient to you whether this is daytime, evening or a weekend and as my clients will tell you, my phone is always on! I also operate a remote service, if this works better, or if distance is an issue so although my area is generally, Fenland, West Norfolk and parts of Lincolnshire, I do have clients as far a field as Leicestershire, North Norfolk and London.

I understand that once a decision has been made to make a Will and/or LPA, it is important to complete in a timely manner, and I will ensure that my timescales are met. Understanding that reviewing your Wills and Estate Planning is also important, I ensure that contact is made on a regular basis to check that your Will continues to meet your wishes and circumstances – this is something that clients can forget to do, so a little nudge can be welcome!

My role as a Probate Associate is relatively new but equally as important. Being an Executor can be daunting at the most difficult of times and I am here to help navigate the initial stages, should APS Legal & Associates Ltd be requested to act in anyway at that time, whether to obtain Grant of Probate, ensure that Trusts are set up correctly or to complete administration of the whole death estate.
